Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff are ready for talks with Manchester City over contract renewals ahead of next season.

Mail Sport understands that no offers to any of Guardiola’s closest allies at the club had been forthcoming before victory on the final day of the campaign at Fulham secured Champions League qualification.

Sources have said that City have started the process of discussing fresh terms with coaches this week, a fortnight out from flying to the United States for the Club World Cup. Existing deals expire in the middle of that tournament.

The delay in negotiations for coaches on 12-month deals had created some confusion among the backroom team, which includes four key personnel who have been by Guardiola’s side since his appointment in 2016.

New director of football Hugo Viana will be formulating a view on the coaching set-up, as well as how much business needs doing in the transfer market, as he continues a handover with Txiki Begiristain before spearheading a new era at City.

Guardiola’s coaching staff have been tightknit over the years, with a core group alongside him remaining the same throughout his tenure.

Head of analyst Carles Planchart, fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura and head of player protocol Manel Estiarte all joined from Bayern Munich with the manager.

Xabier Mancisidor, the goalkeeping coach, moved to the Etihad Stadium under Manuel Pellegrini in 2013.

Carlos Vicens, promoted to the first-team group four years ago, has an offer from Braga to become the Portuguese side’s new manager.

Assistant manager Juanma Lillo, whom Guardiola deems a mentor, re-joined City after the Treble campaign alongside Inigo Dominguez.

Enzo Maresca, Mikel Arteta and Domenec Torrent were all previous No 2s and took top jobs elsewhere with success.
