Former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham has said that West Ham should sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The Hammers had a disappointing year under Graham Potter this season, as they didn’t see much improvement from when they had Julen Lopetegui at the helm.
Due to this, Potter will be keen for a strong summer transfer window, which he can use to create a much-improved side ahead of next season starting in August.

One position that the Hammers could improve in the summer is the goalkeeper spot, as Alphonse Areloa is now 32, and has less than two years left on his contract at the London Stadium.
Sheringham was asked by Prime Casino whether West Ham should go after Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, or Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale this summer.
He said: “I quite like Ramsdale. I like his character, so I would go for Ramsdale if I were looking for a new goalkeeper at West Ham.
“What I think gives him the edge over Caoimhin Kelleher is his experience, he’s had more games in the Premier League. He’s full of life, and I liked him even when he was at Arsenal. It was just a shame he was at Arsenal! But I always liked his manner, he comes across well. He’s young enough, and he’s got the confidence you need.”
West Ham in potential swap deal for Ramsdale
Ramsdale has been linked with a move to West Ham, with reports in April saying that they could offer attacker Luis Guilherme in a swap for the Southampton keeper this summer.
The Saints are reportedly keen to sign Guilherme and so a swap deal would make sense, however, now that Southampton have a new manager in Will Still, it is unclear as to whether they remain interested in the 19-year-old.
Guilherme has made just 12 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, he’s failed to score or assist in those 12 games.
