Suspect in Liverpool parade incident arrested on suspicion of attempted murder & drug driving

A fresh update has been provided in the aftermath of the shocking incident on Monday during Liverpool's Premier League title-winning parade. The Reds were celebrating their second ever Premier League title and it was the first time the club was able to parade the trophy around in front of their supporters, with thousands packing out the streets to see the squad celebrate.

The joyous celebrations were cut short, though, when a vehicle drove into multiple pedestrians on Water Street. Shortly after the incident, it was revealed that a 53-year-old male was arrested for the crime and now, there's been a fresh update explaining the multiple crimes he has been arrested for.

According to the update provided by Detective Chief Superintendent Karen Jaundrill, via Sky News, the perpetrator was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. That wasn't the only crime he was being detained for, however. Jaundrill also revealed that he was being held on suspicion of dangerous driving and for driving unfit through the use of drugs. Providing an update, she said:

"We have arrested a 53-year-old man from West Derby on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving offences and driving whilst unfit through drugs. He remains in custody where he is being interviewed."

As Jaundrill revealed, the unnamed man remains in custody and is still being interviewed about the events that unfolded on Monday evening. Further updates have also revealed that 11 people are still being treated in hospital for injuries they received on Water Street.
