Aston Villa could be “forced to cash in” on Newcastle United transfer target Jacob Ramsey, according to reports.
Radio station talkSPORT claim the midfielder could be sacrificed as a consequence of missing out on Champions League qualification.
Ramsey is an academy player, so he would go down as pure profit on the balance sheet. His departure would, therefore, greatly aid the Midlands club’s chances of complying with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

It is believed that a bid in a region of £50m could be enough to secure the 23-year-old’s services this summer.
Newcastle are not the only Premier League team targeting Ramsey
In addition to the Magpies, both Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be big fans of the former England Under-21 international.
Considering all three teams can offer Ramsey Champions League football, a decision on which team he joins may come down to guarantees over game time.
Manager Eddie Howe has been keen to recruit a no.10 for quite some time and Ramsey is best deployed in that position, despite having been picked to play the left flank and in deeper positions by Villa boss Unai Emery.
A power struggle at St James’ Park has come to an end
The announcement that Paul Mitchell has left his position as sporting director just a year after taking up the role means that the manager has succeeded in gaining full control over transfer targets.
Howe is expected to take all decisions on future signings. It remains to be seen how far up the list of options Ramsey is, but it does look like he could be on the move between now and the end of June. It’s definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on.
