Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has sent his support to Viktor Gyokeres after the Sporting striker completed the domestic double for the Portuguese club this season.

The Swede has been in the form of his life at Sporting after being spotted by Ruben Amorim at Coventry City. Remarkably, Gyokeres has finished this season with a total of 54 goals in all competitions and 97 in 102 appearances for the club.

Gyokeres has been heavily linked with the exit door for several months and if this weekend was his last appearance for the club, he ended it on a high. With his team on the verge of losing the Taca de Portugal to fierce rivals Benfica, the striker scored a 101st minute penalty to take the game to extra-time.

Once there, Sporting sealed the deal as Conrad Harder and Francisco Trincao scored to win the competition and end the season on a high. Unsurprisingly, Gyokeres was delighted post-match and took to social media to celebrate.

In a short reel of himself strutting with the trophy, Gyokeres commented: "Walk it like I talk it." Fernandes showed his public support by liking the post.

The United skipper has a vested interest in Sporting having represented the club for three years before moving to Old Trafford in 2020. Fernandes has previously explained that he keeps a close eye on his old club's matches and was therefore aware of Amorim's work before he arrived in the north west.

"I've seen many, many moments where players were struggling and he kept his faith in them," Fernandes explained before working with Amorim. "He always goes to the press conference and always defends their players and always keeps them on under himself to give them the best opportunity to shine."

Gyokeres remains a target for Arsenal as well as United and it has been claimed that the forward will make the final decision on his future soon.
