'They've not got long': Everton now in race against time to complete transfer for £15m -…

Everton are heading for a huge summer, and there has already been movement ahead of the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees have enjoyed a great 2025 so far, and ended up surviving relegation with ease.

Everton finished on 48 points in the Premier League, and came 13th in the table which is a brilliant achievement considering where they were when Sean Dyche left.

Fans are now hoping that Everton will kick on, ahead of their first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The club have already confirmed the departures of several players, including Abdoulaye Doucoure, Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia and Ashley Young.

And loan players Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja are all returning to their parent clubs.

But one player Everton are looking to keep hold of is Carlos Alcaraz, and there’s been an intriguing update today.

Alcaraz signed for Everton from Flamengo back in January.

The Argentina international was the club’s only signing, and was mainly a target for recruitment officials rather than David Moyes.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen Alcaraz play for Everton, sometimes starting and sometimes not.

It was suggested that Everton were looking to avoid being obligated to buy Alcaraz by not starting him too often.

As has been widely reported, Everton have an option to buy Alcaraz for around £15 million (Liverpool Echo).

Journalist Patrick Boyland has reported that the Toffees will need to get a move on if they are to sign the player for the initial £15 million buy option that was negotiated.

He said on The Blue Room podcast: “I think they need to make a decision on Alcaraz really soon by the way, because of the terms of the deal.

“I don’t have the specific date, but it expires soon. My framing of this has always been, around the end of the season. So they’ve not got long.

“Maybe Everton’s wording suggests that there’s also an option – as you would imagine – to negotiate this down if they wanted. I think the fee is pretty reasonable.”

Alcaraz is a player many Everton fans want to see signed permanently, after a positive first few months at the club on loan.

It’s sounding like the club face a race against time to sign him on the terms that were initially agreed with Flamengo.

But realistically, if the deadline to trigger that £15 million option does pass, Alcaraz could still sign for the Toffees – just for a different fee.

But what is paramount here is that Everton don’t end up letting other clubs come to the table for Alcaraz.

Ideally, the club will simply trigger the £15 million option soon to avoid any kind of scenario of not having him back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
