England will be aiming to win Euro 2025 this summer and bounce back from their World Cup defeat two years ago.

Aston Villa Women’s stars are looking to make it into the squad for Switzerland ahead of the upcoming tournament.

England will be without Rachel Daly, who retired from England duty last year.

Now, the Lionesses have suffered another setback in their goal to win consecutive European Championships.

England Women suffered a shock on Tuesday as it was announced that Mary Earps would be retiring from international duty.

The goalkeeper had played 53 times for England and was part of the Euro 2021 winning side.

In the 2023 World Cup, Earps was the vice captain for the Lionesses, and had played every match in the last two tournaments.

However, now at 32 years old, she has decided to hang up her international boots to focus on her club career at PSG.

Earps has been part of a golden generation at England Women

On her Instagram (27 May), the former Manchester United goalkeeper posted a long heartfelt message about her decision, which caused multiple world-class players to react.

Among them was Aston Villa’s Daly, who put: “Legend Mazza, what a career! So proud of you!”

Arsenal forward Beth Mead, who won the golden boot for the Lionesses in their Euro 2021 victory, said: “Absolute legend. It’s been a privilege.”

Missy Bo Kearns set to represent Aston Villa at the Euros

This summer, Missy Bo Kearns is likely to be the sole Aston Villa representative for the Three Lions.

The midfielder is on the back of a great season at Villa Park and recently earned a call-up for the final round of Nations League matches, which will take place over the next two weeks.

Kearns was expected to have a breakthrough year at Villa after her move from Liverpool, and she is now repaying this faith.

Hopefully, she can now help England to retain the Euros despite the shock retirement of Earps.
