Juanma Lillo is set to depart Manchester City in the summer transfer window alongside other members of Pep Guardiola’s team.
That’s according to AS, who report that Lillo will no longer be a part of the coaching team at Manchester City next season.
They say that the decision has been made for him to depart the Etihad alongside other members of the backroom team after several years working under Guardiola.
Lillo and the Manchester City boss have a long-term relationship after playing together at Dorados in Mexico.
He first joined Manchester City as assistant manager in 2020 before leaving two years later to manager Al-Sadd in Saudi Arabia. That lasted for 31 games, and he returned in August 2023 and has been at the club since.
There is no indication that he intends to leave the game, rather it is believed that other opportunities will arise for the 59-year-old in the coming months. There is also no indication there has been any sort of falling out, with AS insisting that relationships with both Guardiola and players in the squad remain strong.
Instead, it appears to be Manchester City heading in a different direction after a disappointing campaign.
