'Take it or leave it' - Manchester United star 'given 72 hours' to make £200m transfer decision

Man Utd are reluctant to allow the star to leave in the summer transfer window.

Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been given 72 hours to decide whether or not he will leave Manchester United for Al-Hilal. The Portuguese playmaker is a top target for the Saudi club as they look to make a statement signing in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail claim Al-Hilal have handed the United captain an ultimatum and he must reach a final decision by the end of the working week. The 30-year-old has reportedly been given a ‘take it or leave it’ offer that would be worth a whopping £65-million-a-season, worth roughly £200 million over a proposed three-year contract.

The report claims that if Fernandes agrees to the proposal, the Saudi club will then approach United with a formal offer in the region of £100 million. It would be a huge financial boost to United but would come at the cost of their most talented player and someone who is viewed an integral part of their rebuild under Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim wants to keep Bruno Fernandes

The news comes just hours after Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim reiterated his desire to keep Bruno Fernandes at the club this summer. Fernandes signed a new contract in August 2024, but the expiry date was extended only by a year to 2027, though United also have the option to trigger an additional year.

The Portuguese playmaker admitted he could leave this summer if the club decided to part ways, though Amorim has spoken publicly about his desire to keep the captain. Fernandes was crowned the club's Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the fourth time in six seasons and finished as their top scorer with 19 goals across all competitions.

Speaking earlier in the day, Amorim once again declared a desire to keep him at the club. “We already talk about that many times," he told reporters at a press conference in Malaysia. "You can see by the performance, the leadership, the passion he has for the game, it’s really important. Especially in these kind of moments.

"The last game the team was without pressure, they performed quite well, everybody wants the ball. But we had some difficult moments and in those difficult moments you can see that Bruno is the guy that takes responsibility. He should be (taking responsibility) because he’s the captain, he’s experienced, he’s really important for us and really important for what we want to build with this team.”
