With him entering his fourth season in the NFL, this will be a huge season for him also. If Wyatt is able to perform at a high level, then there is a chance that general manager Brian Gutekunst could give him a contract extension. Injuries during the 2024 NFL season didn’t help Wyatt reach his full potential. There is a chance that he could blossom during the 2025 NFL season. Is Wyatt one of the most underappreciated players on the roster?

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (95) celebrates after Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis was sacked during the fourth quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.

NFL.com writer Gennaro Filice wrote about one player on each NFC team who is underappreciated. For the Packers, Filice has Wyatt as the most underappreciated player on the roster. Filice said about Wyatt,

“A first-round pick in 2022, Wyatt took a big step forward in 2023, posting 5.5 sacks and 48 QB pressures (per PFF). With Jeff Hafley taking over the defense in 2024 — switching the scheme from Joe Barry’s 3-4 front to a base 4-3 approach — Wyatt appeared poised for a full-fledged breakout as a gap-shooting 3-tech. And he was indeed a monster in the first three games of the season, racking up three sacks, five QB hits and nine pressures. But then he sprained his ankle in Week 4, sidelining him for three games. He appeared to get his mojo back late in the season, logging a sack in back-to-back December games, but I want to see a fully healthy season from Wyatt in Hafley’s system.”

During the 2024 season with Green Bay, he recorded 23 tackles, five sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Wyatt has a chance to be good in 2025 if he is able to stay on the field and stay healthy. He is projected to be on the starting defensive line for the Packers. Wyatt, Kenny Clark, Lukas Van Ness, and Rashan Gary are projected to be the starters on the defensive line for Green Bay.

This was one of the weaknesses of the defense for the 2024 NFL season. He is 27 years old, and he is in a prove it year with Green Bay. Wyatt and the rest of the crew will need to step up if Green Bay wants to record more sacks during the upcoming 2025 NFL season also.
