In recent history, NFL Draft numbers from the Commonwealth of Virginia have declined. We’ve pointed that out in TSL articles, and the numbers have been pretty sobering. However, the 2025 NFL Draft saw a reversal of this trend, and we can only hope that it signals a change for the better.

We’re going to examine three things today. First, we’ll discuss the overall numbers of the last seven draft classes from Virginia and how they compare to North Carolina and Maryland. Then we’ll look at how many of those players were drafted out of Virginia Tech. Finally, which areas in the state have produced the most NFL talent?

In 2024, Virginia had just one player drafted. In 2023 and 2024 combined, only four players from the Commonwealth were selected. For a state that has been proud of its football for a long time, those numbers are pretty bad.
