Packers Make Major Jaire Alexander Move

Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers and Jaire Alexander have been constantly in the rumor mill.

At one point, it seemed that the two sides were going to be moving on from each other. That almost seemed like a foregone conclusion.

However, a new report has come out that has given hope to the fans who want to see the longtime veteran star cornerback return to the Packers for at least one more year.

According to a report from Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Green Bay has offered a restructured deal to Alexander that would bring him back for the 2025 season.

"According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Packers have proposed a restructured contract to Alexander, which tangibly demonstrates their interest in retaining the two-time All-Pro cornerback during an offseason in which they have been open to trading him," Schneidman wrote.

Brian Gutekunst did not go out and add much talent to the cornerback room. He did sign Nate Hobbs to a four-year contract in free agency, but that move would not come close to replacing the skill set that Alexander brings to the field.

Unfortunately, over the last two years, Alexander has been unable to stay healthy. He has played in just seven games in each of the last two seasons.

Last year, he showed that he's still capable of being an elite cornerback when he's available to play.

In the seven games he played in, Alexander racked up 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes. He was on pace for another huge year.

Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Packers want to compete for a Super Bowl. They would have a much better chance of accomplishing that goal with a healthy Alexander leading the way in the secondary.

Right now, it is unknown what Alexander's response to the restructured offer was like. The two sides haven't agreed to anything yet, but an offer has been made.

Green Bay fans will continue watching the situation closely. Hopefully, the two sides can figure something out to keep Alexander in the Packers' green and yellow. He could be the piece that helps power the team to a Super Bowl run if he can stay healthy.
