Russell Westbrook Makes Personal Announcement on Tuesday

Russell Westbrook is coming off a successful season with the Denver Nuggets.

Westbrook and the Nuggets made their way to the second round of the postseason, losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Before falling at the hands of the NBA MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the Thunder, the Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers.

After the season, his 17th year in the NBA, Westbrook made an interesting announcement that caught the attention of fans on social media.

Westbrook revealed that he is undergoing surgery on his right hand to fix two breaks. The Nuggets guard mentioned that the injury happened during the season and "the comeback is already in motion."

"This morning, I’m undergoing surgery on my right hand to fix two breaks that happened during the season," Westbrook said, per Law Murray. "I’m grateful for everyone’s support all year and I can’t wait to be back out there at 100% soon. The comeback is already in motion. #WhyNot."

The 2024-25 season marked Russell Westbrook's first year with the Denver Nuggets. He played alongside the MVP runner-up, Nikola Jokic, and several other stars including Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

During his 17th season in the NBA, Westbrook posted 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
