Raheem Morris provides injury update on Falcons’ forgotten pass rusher

The Falcons’ pass rush has been a talking point among fans for years, and it finally feels like Terry Fontenot has given the coaching staff enough juice to do something about it.

Raheem Morris and Jeff Ulbrich will have plenty of firepower in the cupboard. Up and down the line of scrimmage and even on the second level, the Falcons have the pieces now.

David Oneymata, Zach Harrison, Ruke Orhorhoro, Brandon Dorlus, Kaden Elliss, and Arnold Ebiketie are joined by Leonard Floyd, Morgan Fox, Jalon Walker, and James Pearce Jr., but there’s a forgotten pass rusher amongst the group — Bralen Trice.

The 2024 third-round pick led the country in quarterback pressures coming out of Washington and was a rookie that many Falcons fans thought could’ve been a difference-maker, but his debut campaign was cut short by an ACL injury.

Raheem Morris provided an update on Bralen Trice, telling Atlanta reporters that it’s “realistic” that he’s back for Falcons training camp.

He was a third-round pick for a reason, so any expectations of him coming in and immediately being a star pass rusher were a pipe dream. Now, he’s a third-round pick coming off a serious injury with fewer opportunities available. Expectations should be tempered.

In that same breath, while opportunities will be harder to come by for him in 2025 because of Walker, Pearce, Ebiketie, and Floyd, Bralen Trice still can contribute to a much-improved Falcons defense.

There will be a healthy rotation, keeping everyone fresh up front. That’s good news for Trice. Secondly, while Trice might not be the most capable pass rusher, he might be one of the better run defenders, which will always get him on the field.

Bralen Trice isn’t the shiny, new toy that Falcons fans are excited about, like Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., and he may never be, but he can still be a quietly productive defender in Raheem Morris and Jeff Ulbrich’s system.
