EXCLUSIVE: "You Have To Say Goodbye" - Man United Urged To Sell £100m Star Amid Saudi Pro League Links

Former Man United player Paul Parker has said that the Red Devils may have to sell Bruno Fernandes because of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Reports have emerged recently suggesting that United could sell Fernandes after there has been reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who could reportedly offer £100 million to sign the Portuguese midfielder.

Fernandes has been United’s best player this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions. He has previously spoken about his desire to stay at the club.

However, due to United’s rash spending over the past few seasons, the club could be forced to sell him in order to generate a significant amount of profit, especially if they are to receive a hefty bid from Al-Hilal.

Former United full-back Paul Parker told ManUNews.com alongside Betano: “With this silly PSR thing, they’ve put certain clubs in vulnerable positions. You look at United and where they are with their massive debt, so sometimes you have to let people go.

“It’s tough, it’s emotional, it doesn’t matter how good they are or how important, you have to say goodbye. You’ve got to look at the one [to sell] that is worth the most, and if they’re willing.

“You have to go backwards to go forwards, they [Man United] certainly need something to take them forwards and it might be that money. They could sell him and a lot of fans will have to accept it because that’s the times of football that we’re in.”

Fernandes sale could fund Man United attack overhaul

If the Red Devils were to sell the midfielder, it could help fund their transfer business up front, which will likely cost a hefty amount based on the players that they have been linked to.

For a start, they are expected to announce the signing of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha for a fee of £62.5m, plus they have been linked with Ipswich’s Liam Delap.

Delap is expected to cost £30m, so just those two players alone, would cost United £92.5m, so Fernandes’ sale could be crucial in bringing both names in ahead of next season.
