Manchester United’s nightmare campaign officially finished on Sunday, with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa doing little to gloss over what has been a historically poor season.
The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League, their worst league finish ever, bringing embarrassment and intensifying calls for major change at Old Trafford.

With no Champions League football on offer next season, the club face a significantly more difficult rebuild this summer as they attempt to reshape the squad and restore competitiveness.
It is likely that at least one key player may need to be sold to fund incoming business.
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho among those whose futures remain uncertain.
And now Garnacho finds himself at the centre of further controversy after being publicly criticised by former United and Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Ben Foster criticises Alejandro Garnacho over antics following Europa League final loss
Foster slammed the 20-year-old’s attitude during and after the club’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
Garnacho had already caused friction behind the scenes after expressing his frustration at being dropped to the bench for the final.
A decision that led to manager Ruben Amorim telling the winger he no longer has a future at United.
Foster, speaking on his Fozcast podcast, was unimpressed with Garnacho’s conduct, particularly in contrast to Tottenham match-winner Brennan Johnson.
“I watched the Europa League final and you’ve got Brennan Johnson doing his interview after the game,” he said.
“He just looks like a lovely, hardworking, honest kid.
“You can tell with the way he’s speaking that he’s a team player.

“He might not have the ability of Garnacho… but he’ll outwork him, I guarantee you.
“The full-time whistle goes, and he (Garnacho) sits down on the floor.
“He doesn’t try to interact with any of his teammates or try to console them.
“It’s all about him, him, him, him.
“Brennan Johnson is a team player.
“Give me him ten times out of ten. Garnacho? No chance.”
Garnacho’s omission from the squad for the final game of the season only further fuelled speculation about his future, with the Argentine continuing to attract attention across Europe.
Napoli remain interested in the winger and could make a move this summer depending on outgoings.
While Chelsea are still believed to be in the mix, though they have yet to make any concrete move for the player.
