Report: Everton’s ambitious move for ‘world class’ playmaker could now be hijacked by Pep…

Everton will be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window.

David Moyes has been given a substantial budget by the Friedkin Group, who have big plans for the football club.

Everton will be in the market for nearly every position across the pitch, with so many departures expected.

Indeed, Moyes has his priorities, with the attacking ranks in desperate need of a complete overhaul after the lack of goals in recent years.

The Friedkin’s are really pushing to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, though, there is serious competition for his signature.

Now, they face losing out on a talented playmaker on the continent, with Pep Guardiola keen to strike a deal.

Pep Guardiola wants Everton target Rayan Cherki

Everton have been tracking Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki for months after his impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Cherki walked off the pitch in tears during Lyon’s final game of the season, which sparked further suggestions that he could leave for Merseyside.

The Toffees were informed this week that it’d take £34m to sign Cherki this summer, which would be a bargain deal.

The Frenchman has been directly involved in a whopping 29 goals this term and has been labelled ‘world class’ (per One Football) at times.

But, unfortunately for Moyes, it looks as though they could lose out to Manchester City, as they look to hijack a deal.

According to the Telegraph, Guardiola is looking into a deal to sign the 21-year-old after missing out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.

Everton could turn to Gustavo Hamer

Everton could turn their attention to Gustavo Hamer, who is expected to leave Sheffield United after their play-off final defeat to Sunderland.

Hamer is also attracting interest from newly-promoted Leeds United, who made a bid to sign him last summer.

James McAtee could also become an option for Moyes, with Guardiola willing to sanction his sale this summer.

McAtee netted six times in nine starts for the Citizens, so it was a pretty productive season despite his lack of regular football.

Forest are currently leading the race on that front, though.
