CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been named the 2025 George Halas Award winner by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA). Burrow, who had an outstanding 2024 season after missing much of 2023 due to a wrist injury, is the 57th recipient of the award. He becomes the third member of the Bengals franchise to receive this honor, joining Tim Krumrie (1990) and Mike Zimmer (2010).

The Halas Award is presented to an NFL player, coach, or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed. Named after George Halas, a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the award recognizes resilience and determination in the face of challenges.

Burrow's 2023 season was cut short by a wrist injury in the 10th game, necessitating surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation. He made a triumphant return in 2024, setting Cincinnati regular season records and leading the NFL in passing attempts (652), completions (460), passing yards (4,918), and touchdown passes (43). His performance earned him the title of AFC Offensive Player of the Month twice and the PFWA's 2024 Comeback Player of the Year.

Other finalists for the 2025 Halas Award included Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, and Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins.
