Ipswich Town mural painted over after relegation

A mural painted to celebrate Ipswich Town’s first foray into the Premier League in two decades has been painted over following their relegation.

The artwork, on the corner of Barrack Lane and Norwich Road, was painted in August to celebrate the Tractor Boys’ return to the top flight of English football.

However, the club’s fate was sealed after a loss to Newcastle in April sent them back down to the Championship – with it playing its final game, against West Ham, on Sunday, losing 3-1.

It was painted by TNT Sports.

Ipswich Town were promoted to the Premier League after a win against Huddersfield on May 4, 2024.
