Fulham Lodge Six Figure Bid for Wembley Hero

**Premier League side Fulham have submitted a bid worth £1 million for Peterborough United’s Harvey Mills.**

The 19-year-old wrote himself into Posh folklore with a superb free-kick at Wembley against League One champions Birmingham City. Mills’ strike secured victory in the final, seeing the side lift the Vertu trophy for a third time, retaining a 100% win record in the prestigious stadium with five wins.

Marco Silva’s side have had their interest piqued by the left-back’s development, lodging a bid of £1 million, according to [Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-fulham-peterboroigh-harley-mills/). The Cottagers finished just outside the top half after defeat to Manchester City on the final day condemned them to an 11th-placed finish.

Fulham Seek to Further Youthful Development.

--------------------------------------------

According to the original bid report, the Premier League side would further Mills’ development by placing him directly into the under-23s side at Craven Cottage. Regular playing time in the Premier League 2 could be seen as an improvement over League One football to some.

However, after being recalled from a loan spell at non-league Enfield, Mills has had some time around the first team. While that is exposure to football at a senior level, the 19-year-old has featured in 11 of a possible 36 games, with less than a quarter of that time in the starting eleven.

It is easy to see that he could be tempted by a move to a side of such stature, but he could also be keen to see a development path with his current side progress. Posh are facing the loss of several stars, including [Kwame Poku](https://thedeck.news/football/peterborough-united-winger-wanted-by-26-clubs/), who is a target for promoted Birmingham City. Poku is joined by Ricky Jade-Jones and Hector Kyprianou in leaving the club at the end of their contracts this summer.

Fulham Breakthrough Would not be Close for Young Star.

------------------------------------------------------

As stated above, Fulham would place Mills into the youth team setup, but that would not be an improvement on his current situation. The youngster looks to be a promising talent, something which Peterborough are becoming well-known for in England, with names like Ivan Toney having the club on their resume.

The Cottagers’ current first-choice left-back is American international Antonee Robinson, who has enjoyed a solid season in that role, providing 10 assists in 36 appearances this season. His solid performances gained the interest of plenty of top clubs, but signing a contract extension until 2028 left his future at Craven Cottage in no doubt.

The League One side may not feel they are in any urgent rush to sell a player like Mills, and staying in the third tier for now would be a wise idea for the 19-year-old. If that were to happen, it could also benefit Fulham, with Posh known for transfer-listing players in their final year of contract. While it is not known the length of his contract, his age could mean he still has some years left at London Road, another benefit to the Premier League side, who might be able to bid for a more polished version of Mills in a few years.
