Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah believes he can play until he is 40 with the Egyptian admitting he would have entertained moving to the Saudi Pro League had he not signed a new deal recently.
The 2024/25 season saw Salah lead Liverpool to the Premier League title, with the Egyptian bagging 29 goals and 18 assists in 38 league games for Arne Slot's side. In doing so, he also helped the Reds to their second Premier League crown, one which Liverpool celebrated on Monday until that was curtailed by the horrifying scenes that unfolded in the wake of their title parade.
Heading into the campaign, Salah, like Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, was out of contract meaning it could have been his final season on Merseyside. But in April, Salah's camp and Liverpool agreed to terms on a new deal two-year deal that will run through to 2027.
Come the end of that deal, the Egyptian forward will be 35. However, according to Salah, he believes he can play until he is 40.
"I will stop playing when I have that feeling but if you ask me for my opinion, I think I can play until the age of 39 or 40," Salah told Egyptian television channel ON Sports.
"But if I felt before that I wanted to stop, I would quit. I have achieved a lot of things."

Had Salah not agreed to terms on a new deal with Liverpool, he almost certainly would have ended up moving to the Saudi Pro League on a free.
Two years ago, Al-Ittihad tried to sign Salah for a monstrous $270 million (£215m), a deal the Reds ended up rejecting due to the Premier League season having already started.
However, this time around, a move to Saudi was on the cards for Salah up until he signed a new deal with Liverpool.

He added of the potential move: "I thought it was a good opportunity. My contract was up at Liverpool and I would have gone to Saudi but we finalised the deal with Liverpool.
"And I still have a good relationship with them and I always stay in contact with them. Yes, we were talking to each other.
"I don’t know what is going to happen but I am happy here in Liverpool and I am staying here for the next two years. Then I will see what I will do next."
