Trent Alexander-Arnold called out as parade footage shows Curtis Jones' 'true feelings'

Curtis Jones appeared to suggest that Trent Alexander-Arnold was crying for the camera during Liverpool’s Premier League trophy parade. A tearful Alexander-Arnold waved goodbye to Reds fans after revealing that he is joining leaving in the summer. He is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

For part of Liverpool’s route through the city, Alexander-Arnold stood at the front of the top deck of the bus with Jones, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai. In one clip shared on social media, the England international is seen placing his forehead into the pit of his elbow. Visibly emotional, Alexander-Arnold is consoled by Szoboszlai.

However, Jones appears to be having none of his friend and team-mate’s antics. The bemused midfielder seems to ask Salah and Szoboszlai what was happening.

Szoboszlai points to his eye, suggesting that Alexander-Arnold was crying. Jones then seems confused before making a camera gesture to Salah. The 24-year-old then appears to point at the camera filming the procession further ahead.

Jones seemed to be saying that Alexander-Arnold was crying for the camera. Emotion also got the better of the Madrid-bound star on Sunday, following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season.

Alexander-Arnold, who had been booed by sections of the Anfield crowd during his previous appearance at the stadium, sobbed as he waved goodbye to fans. Jones was among the players to put their arm around the 26-year-old.

“I didn’t know what to expect stepping out at Anfield today after what had happened,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports afterwards.

“I wanted to play for the club one more time. I told the manager, and he trusted me. The reception means so much to me. I have never felt more loved and more cared for than today. I hope that one day the fans are able to recognise the hard work I put in for this team.

“From six to 26, 20 years is a very long time. I have loved every second of it, it has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of this club. I’ll remember these moments for the rest of my life. This day will go down as the best in my life.”

Liverpool’s trophy parade took a 10-mile route through Merseyside and into the city centre. However, a day of celebration turned to horrifying scenes as a car ploughed through a crowd on Water Street.

A 53-year-old white British man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drugs. He remains in police custody.
