Throughout his 17-year career in the NFL, tight end Jason Witten established himself as a star, making 11 Pro Bowls and accumulating 1,277 receptions, 13,046 yards and 74 touchdowns.
However, his football career ended in 2020, but that doesn't mean the sport is completely behind him, because his son, Cooper Witten, is starting to receive major interest from some of the top college football programs.
The gears are certainly starting to turn when it comes to making a decision, and as reported by Matt Ray of Volquest, he will be visiting the Tennessee Volunteers for their recruiting event on Saturday.
It's certainly a big deal, as Witten is one of the most sought-after players in the class of 2027, with On3 Industry Rankings placing him as a four-star recruit, the No. 1 linebacker and the No. 19 player in the nation.

In Witten's two seasons at the varsity level for Liberty Christian High School, he's appeared in 23 games, accumulating 127 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions, 14 pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.
Of course, they aren't the only big-time program trying to land his services, as he's also received offers from schools such as Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas.
However, it is worth noting he is a legacy with the Volunteers, as Jason spent three seasons with Tennessee where he played in 36 games, racking up 68 receptions, 797 yards and seven touchdowns.
As of now, though, his chances of following in his father's footsteps appear low, as On3's recruiting prediction machine gives Tennessee less than a 1% chance to land Witten, while Oklahoma is in the lead at 25%.
