Newcastle United are keen on giving star striker Alexander Isak a new deal this summer after qualifying for the Champions League.
By no means was it an easy task, but the Magpies got over the line by the skin of their teeth thanks to Manchester United of all teams.
Dan Burn thanked Man United through gritted teeth after they beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford, a win that pushed Villa out of the top five and confirmed a return to Europe’s top competition for Newcastle United despite losing to Everton on the final day of the season.
Champions League football means that the club can now welcome new players to the club with little worry of breaching PSR, a game-changer for the club.
After initial reports that Newcastle had £150m to spend this summer, their transfer budget is now believed to be well over that amount, which only spells good news for the upcoming transfer window.
While new signings are being looked at, Newcastle must also look to hand out new contracts to several players, including Alexander Isak, who has had his fair share of interest from other clubs. With Newcastle bosses eyeing new contract talks with Isak, a new report has shared how they really feel about giving him a new deal after returning to the Champions League.

Newcastle United confident ahead of Alexander Isak contract talks
It is a saga that has dragged on far too long, but hopefully one that will be finalised in the summer. Isak wanted Champions League football to stay at Newcastle, and the club has delivered that for him.
The ball is in the Magpies’ court to hand him a new deal and deter interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

And now, according to the Chronicle, Newcastle chiefs are confident that Isak will sign a new contract at the club to extend his stay on Tyneside past 2028.
The report adds that talks between the two parties will continue now the season is over and their Champions League fate has been confirmed. Isak will become Newcastle’s highest earner if he signs a new deal, overtaking Bruno Guimaraes in that regard.
Although he had a quiet end to the season, Isak was second in the Premier League’s top scorers list with 23 goals.
Newcastle United set for shock Callum Wilson contract talks
For a large part of the 2024/25 campaign, Callum Wilson has looked almost certain to leave Newcastle at the end of his contract this summer. However, it has now been reported that Newcastle have offered Wilson a new contract, despite opting against triggering his extension clause.
The new deal for Wilson is more incentive-based to motivate him to keep his fitness levels high and find the form he lost this season.
Giving Wilson a new deal is a surprise move, especially after he failed to find the net in the Premier League this season. But Howe clearly still sees something in him.
Wilson was in tears at St James’ Park following the end of Newcastle’s defeat to Everton, suggesting he has already made up his mind on his future at the club, even after the new contract offer.
Newcastle will look to sign a new striker this summer, regardless of whether Wilson remains at the club next season, with the likes of Liam Delap among the candidates.
