Liverpool are prepared to accept offers for Luis Diaz this summer once they sign a replacement amid interest from Barcelona.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 28-year-old is seen as a sellable asset at Anfield.

This comes as the Reds are closing in on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz after pipping Bayern Munich and Man City to the deal.

Football Insider revealed Liverpool have held in-person talks with Wirtz and are edging closer towards a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen in what would be seen as a “huge coup” for Arne Slot’s side.

As a result, Slot is prepared to lose another attacking player to recoup some funds and clear space in his squad for further investment.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 23 May that Liverpool could accept “huge” offers for Diaz as Barcelona continue to eye a potential deal.

Liverpool make Luis Diaz decision after Florian Wirtz signing

Brown told Football Insider in February that Liverpool could sell Diaz and sign a “world-class” replacement amid growing interest in his signature.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the arrival of Wirtz could allow them to move other players on.

“*Liverpool are prepared to let Diaz go if they bring in a replacement,*” he told Football Insider.

“Barcelona are one of the clubs who have been looking at him.

“Liverpool have always been open to letting him go, but they needed a replacement first because they didn’t want to lose him without somebody coming in.

“It’s one thing deciding that you can improve on a player and need something better, but it’s another thing bringing in somebody who’s better.

“They’re the Premier League champions, but there are a few players they feel can be upgraded.

“They’ve been working in the background for a while to identify these replacements and it looks like they’ve settled on Florian Wirtz.

“It’s a huge deal for them, so they’ll be pushing to get it over the line.

“That will then allow them to let other players leave and clear a bit of space in the squad.”

Arne Slot eyes Angelo Stiller deal amid midfield concerns

Alongside the potential addition of a new striker, Liverpool are also looking to strengthen in midfield amid links with a move to sign Angelo Stiller.

Football Insider revealed on 24 May that Stiller could resolve Slot’s midfield concerns after an impressive season with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

He has a £50million release clause in his contract which has inspired interest from Europe’s top clubs, with Liverpool and Real Madrid the latest to join the race.

Slot is keen to strengthen his midfield options and has been linked with the likes of Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton from Brighton and Crystal Palace respectively.
