Chelsea are drawing up a pre-contract to sign Strasbourg forward Emanuel Emegha in the summer of 2026. The 22-year-old Dutchman will stay at the French club for another season and potentially remain an important contributor. This season, he scored 14 goals in 27 league appearances.
Emegha was brought in from Sturm Graz to Strasbourg in 2023, and has since been the showpiece for the French side. At 1.95 meters tall, he provides an aerial presence and has been employed effectively in counter-attacks.
Strasbourg, who are now being coached by Liam Rosenior, are keen to retain Emegha for their first-ever season in Europe. The club have kept asserting there is “no chance” of the striker being allowed to depart this summer, as he is a vital part of their project.
Chelsea’s chase of Emegha is in accordance with their policy to tie up future stars. The club is reportedly offering the striker a six-year deal in an effort to finalize the transaction for 2026. In the meantime, the striker will keep on polishing his techniques and helping Strasbourg achieve its objective in the local league and in Europe.
While Emegha is considered to be a long-term option, the Blues are also on the lookout for short-term cover for their forward department.
Chelsea’s Interests in the Striker Position Revealed
Chelsea are eager to get their hands on a new frontman to bolster their squad before next year. Having qualified for the Champions League, the side have already narrowed down some top targets.
Victor Osimhen remains at the top of their wishlist. Although previous talks broke down over salary, a transfer could go through this summer. Hugo Ekitike is also a straight candidate after a captivating campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt with 22 goals and 12 assists.
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another potential target for Chelsea. Slovenian forward Sesko scored 21 goals this season, and numerous Premier League clubs are in his sights. Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, with 12 goals to his name, is the cheaper option to buy with a release clause of £30 million. Enzo Maresca, having collaborated with Delap in the past at Manchester City, sees him as a target signing.
The Blues have a congested fixtures list next season. They will compete in the Club World Cup and Champions League, so having a proven striker on board is high on their wishlist.
