Former Boston Celtics player Marcus Morris certainly had an interesting take on Trae Young. The ex-Celtic made a bold claim about the Atlanta Hawks star as a point guard during ESPN's First Take on Tuesday.
When Morris claimed there aren't that many point guards in the NBA today, fellow ex-Celtic Kendrick Perkins responded by asking how he sees Young as a player. Morris responded with a rather unique take on the Hawks star.
"Trae Young is a good player in this league," Morris said. "...He wasn't a point guard. He just started passing the ball. He was shooting 40 (from 3-point range)."

Young himself personally responded to Morris's words on his X account, and couldn't believe what the former Celtics player said about him.
"Love Marcus, but this is why it’s important to WIN at a high level & win consistently kids," Young wrote. "Human nature to live in the moment! This how bad narratives are made though...'just started passing'? ð let’s do our research."
Young led the league in assists per game this season, averaging 11.6. Ever since he entered the league in 2018, he has consistently ranked in the top-four among players in assists per game, so this notion that he "just started passing," as Morris put it, is outlandish.
In the NBA these days, point guards come in all shapes and sizes. While Young has the traditional size of a point guard, some of the league's best passers vary in height, like Tyrese Haliburton, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and James Harden.
All of them are noticeably taller than Young, but that doesn't change the fact that they are primary ball-handlers.
