Wolves rejected Manchester United’s first proposal for Matheus Cunha after the club asked to pay in five instalments, according to reports.
Cunha is expected to join United this summer in a deal worth £62.5m – but United were hoping to make payments of £12.5m a year until 2029.
It is believed the Red Devils only have a transfer budget of £100m and wanted to free up funds to sign more players at the end of the season.
Wolves were unwilling to agree to the five-year payment plan but Sky Sports report that United have now accepted to pay in three instalments over two years instead.
It means United have met the terms of Cunha’s contract and now have permission to conclude the deal and start his medical ahead of a move.

United were concerned that Cunha may’ve been ‘put off’ a switch to Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim’s side missed out on the Champions League.
Cunha, though, is still happy to join United despite their Europa League final loss because he views them as one of the biggest clubs in the world.

United head coach Amorim is excited to welcome Cunha to Old Trafford and feels his side are signing a ‘perfect’ player for a ‘fair price’.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for Wolves this season, producing 15 goals and six assists across 33 Premier League games.
The Brazilian mainly operates as an attacking midfielder but can also be deployed as a second striker, centre-forward, left winger and right winger.

Cunha has been at Wolves since 2023, arriving from Atletico Madrid, playing a total of 92 games for them to date with 33 goals and 15 assists.
talkSPORT say Cunha has now agreed a five-year deal at United and chosen to take the No.10 shirt, currently worn by Marcus Rashford.
The summer transfer window opens on June 1, meaning Cunha could officially become a United player in a matter of days.
Former United defender Phil Jones believes Cunha is a great signing for his old club.
‘Really good, I really like him,’ Jones told OLBG when asked for his reaction to Cunha’s impending arrival.
‘He’s a player who I’ve watched twice this season against Manchester United and done well in both games.
‘He reminds me a little bit of Mousa Dembele, who played for Tottenham. He’s so strong when he’s running with the ball and powerful.
‘But he’s got that ability to shift the ball, move the ball, find a pass, score a goal.’
