Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks are gearing up for a pivotal Game 4 Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Knicks trail the series 2-1 but are riding momentum after a 106-100 win on Sunday.
Towns has been a game-changer throughout the postseason. From the first-round series against Detroit to the second round against Boston, his impact has been undeniable. What he’s accomplished hasn’t been seen in New York in more than 30 years.
On Tuesday afternoon, the NBA's official social media accounts highlighted Towns’ historic performance, placing it in elite company:
"Karl-Anthony Towns is the second Knick ever to score 300+ points and grab 150+ rebounds in a single postseason. The other? Patrick Ewing (1993-94)"
In Sunday’s Game 3 win, Towns scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. It marked his fourth straight game with 20 or more points. He’s averaged 11.3 rebounds per game through the first three games of the series.
During the regular season, Towns appeared in 72 games, averaging 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. The 29-year-old was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. After nine seasons in Minnesota, he was traded to the Knicks during the offseason.

Patrick Ewing was the first Knicks player to reach 300+ points and 150+ rebounds in a single postseason. The Hall of Famer and 11-time All-Star won Rookie of the Year in 1986 and started 135 postseason games with New York.
In 1994, Ewing led the Knicks to the NBA Finals, playing 41.3 minutes and scoring 21.9 points per game. The Knicks defeated the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals that year. In the 1993 playoffs, Ewing averaged 25.5 points across 15 games.
Looking ahead, Game 4 is on Tuesday in Indianapolis. Game 5 will return to Madison Square Garden on Thursday. If necessary, Game 6 will be held Saturday back in Indianapolis, with a potential Game 7 scheduled for Saturday night in New York.
