Manchester United’s need for a striker ahead of the upcoming season has been well documented. A team simply cannot win football games without consistent goals from their strikers and that is where the Red Devils have suffered massively this terms.

The English club took a huge punt on Rasmus Hojlund, when they signed him from Atalanta a couple of seasons ago. The Dane, although impressive in bits, has failed to showcase the kind of consistency in terms of goalscoring.

The Red Devils also signed Joshua Zirkzee this summer but it has become evident since that the Dutchman is not a natural number nine but someone who thrives playing slightly behind someone like Hojlund.

Thus, of their many priorities this summer, one of them include signing a new striker. Now, as per an exclusive report from [Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/05/27/exclusive-man-united-bid-liverpool-target/), Man Utd are preparing an offer to sign in-form Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are all monitoring Ekitike and all interested clubs have been told that a fee of around £75million would be required to tempt the German club to consider a sale.

Frankfurt just sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City six months ago for an enormous fee, and don’t necessarily need to make a sale unless a good offer comes in. However, if Ekitike pushes for a move, the club don’t have a choice.

In 48 games across all competitions this season, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists. These numbers are impressive considering his age, but this is not the kind of striker that Man Utd need at the moment.

Ruben Amorim’s team needs a more experienced number nine who can consistently chip in with goals. Ekitike, for his quality, is still far from the finished product. It remains to be seen who Man Utd eventually settle on going forward.
