FRISCO - The Washington Commanders and general manager Adam Peters have done plenty in providing head coach Dan Quinn with the pieces he needs to succeed on the offensive side of the ball, including bringing in via trade Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel to support young QB Jayden Daniels.
But what about on the defensive side of the ball?
That has received less attention than the offensive side during the offseason, no doubt. But the little things can add up, and on Tuesday the Commanders made a move of that variety, as they announced the signed of defensive tackle Carl Davis Jr. to their roster.
The 6-5, 320-pound Davis is a journeyman, to be sure, a former third-round pick who at age 33 has played for eight different teams during a decade-long career.
He was in DC last year, and in 2024, for the Commanders, Davis appeared in three games. He recorded four tackles over the course of that time.
Before coming here, he was on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys before getting a chance to play .. at which time he totaled three tackles.
Prior to his time with the two NFC East clubs, Davis spent time with the Patriots, the Jaguars, the Colts, and the Browns all after having entered the league as a Ravens pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
In total, Davis - who will try to push for a rotational spot in Quinn's D - has 71 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three passes defensed, and a fumble recovery in 78 career appearances.
