As incoming Texas A&M men's basketball transfer Mackenzie Mgbako made a decision on his NBA plans opting to return to college for another year and play in Aggieland, , a former standout is looking to make an impression of his own on scouts on Tuesday.
Former All-SEC selection guard Wade Taylor worked out for the Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced. Taylor was one of six players working out along with Zach Hicks (Penn State), Zack Austin (Pittsburgh), Chris Manon (Vanderbilt), Caleb Love (Arizona) and Money Williams (Montana).
Taylor competed alongside Mgbako at the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp earlier this month at Wintrust Arena. The All-Time leading scorer in program history also competed in the Portsmouth Invitational last month as well.
The NBA Draft is set to be held June 25-26 inside the Barclays Center. The Trail Blazers only hold one pick in the upcoming draft at No. 11 overall after trading their lone second round pick.
Taylor became the Aggies All-Time leading scorer during conference play and also the first player to surpass the 2,000-point plateau with 2,058 points.
Additionally, Taylor set career records for free throws (536), FT percentage (.851), 3-point attempts (905) and double digit scoring games (105). In total, Taylor finished with 24 game, season or career school records at Texas A&M, while also ranking in the top five in 30 other statistical categories, according to a release by Texas A&M.
