When the Buffalo Bills first agreed to terms on a deal with Pro Bowl edge rusher Joey Bosa, the organization hoped they could add a veteran player at a key position of need.
If Bosa could stay healthy throughout the 2025 season, there was hope he would improve off the struggles that Von Miller had gone through over the last few years of service.
Bosa, however, couldn't even make it to OTAs without injuring himself
Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed the former Los Angeles Chargers star suffered a calf injury and would miss the offseason practice period. ...
And much, much more.
"He'll be out for more than likely the foreseeable springtime at least and then we'll get into training camp," McDermott told reporters. "He should be able to go by training camp. Understand it just happened late last week, so we're still in kind of the exploratory phase of what that's going to mean.
"Joey was off to a good start before that, so it's unfortunate to see him go down. But it offers someone else an opportunity to step up and get some quality reps for us as we move forward."
The fact that Bosa is expected to be healthy for the start of training camp is a "glass half full" mindset that works for the Bills. They still have some talented young linemen and a defensive unit that, as a whole, should be among the elites in 2025.
Bosa is an important piece for the roster, though. If he isn't healthy enough to go through practices in OTAs, how can fans have confidence that he'll be available for the most important games of the season?
It's a wait-and-see deal now for a new Bills standout with so much promise ... but now with so many questions.
