Magic Johnson Sends Message to Dawn Staley on Tuesday

Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson has been tuned in to the 2025 NBA playoffs. Over the past couple of weeks, his X account has been filled with his reactions and analysis of the various matchups being played.

Johnson's most recent NBA post was from Game 2 of the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks' Eastern Conference finals series, which saw Tyrese Haliburton and company take a 2-0 lead.

Interestingly, Johnson had quite a different post on Tuesday. Instead of reacting to the result of Game 3 between the Pacers and Knicks (which saw New York win and cut Indiana's series lead to 2-1), the NBA icon took the moment to share the surprise that Dawn Staley had for him.

Staley, who recently released her book titled "Uncommon Favor" and is currently promoting it, sent a copy to Johnson. The moment when the Lakers great received the gift was caught on video, which the five-time NBA champion posted on social media.

Johnson also shared his appreciation for Staley with a sweet message in the caption of the post.

"Thank you Coach @dawnstaley for gifting me a copy of your new book Uncommon Favor!" Johnson wrote. "Congratulations and keep blessing the world."

In her book, Dawn Staley talks about her basketball career, from playing for the University of Virginia, to winning three Olympic gold medals with Team USA and becoming a star in the WNBA.

Furthermore, in an interview with Today, Staley revealed that there's a reason why her book is titled "Uncommon Favor," saying, "I am favored by God with how my life has ended up."

Sure enough, once Johnson reads the book, it will be interesting to see what he has to say about Staley's hoops journey.
