Undrafted Free Agent Called Best Fit For Eagles

Few teams in the NFL can churn out elite offensive linemen quite like the Philadelphia Eagles.

Whether it's finding diamonds in the rough late in drafts, or rolling with high-profile selections, the Eagles always seem to be able to locate excellent talent along the offensive line.

They might have found some new ones this offseason. From three draft selections to an undrafted free agent pickup, the Eagles have addressed some of the depth concerns along the offensive line.

The biggest underdog of the group?

Rutgers' offensive tackle Hollin Pierce.

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski called Pierce Philadelphia's "most excited" undrafted free agent addition.

"The Philadelphia Eagles prefer mountainous offensive linemen, as if last year's unit with Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson and Mekhi Becton didn't already drive that point home," Sobleski said. "The 6'8", 341-pound Hollin Pierce certainly fits the mold. The Rutgers product started four years for the Scarlet Knights, with two seasons each on the right and left sides.

"'Overall, Pierce is a chore to work around in pass protection when he has help to box rushers into his grasp, and he can trap and cover up targets in the run game to create seals and alleys."

The Eagles won't be relying on Pierce to hit the field anytime soon. He is a very raw prospect, similar to when Mailata was a seventh round pick back in 2018.

It took three years for Mailata to be ready to hit the NFL field. That could be a similar trajectory for a player like Pierce.
