Everton’s move into their new stadium is edging closer after the latest Premier League campaign has come to an end.

David Moyes’s side finished the season in 13th place, having secured a 1-0 victory at Newcastle United on the final day.

Everton are set to move into their new 52,888-seater stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock after playing their final game at Goodison Park.

The Merseyside giants have confirmed Goodison is set to become the permanent home of Everton Women after they had initially planned to demolish the 39,572-capacity stadium.

Everton have now agreed a deal with Hill Dickinson for the law firm to become the first naming rights sponsor at their new stadium.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he is “surprised” Everton were unable to agree a naming rights deal with a bigger brand.

Everton have agreed £5m+ deal

Borson insisted Everton’s stadium naming rights deal is unlikely to be worth much more than £5million.

He told Football Insider: “I think it’s quite surprising that there weren’t other big brands who were interested in the first naming rights of this new stadium in Liverpool.

“Forget that it’s an Everton stadium, it doesn’t really matter. It’s a brand new, purpose-built, fantastic-looking stadium in Liverpool.

“Why wasn’t a bigger brand interested just for the sake of £5-10million? This surprises me.

“If you look at the value of these naming rights deals in the US, they are so much more than they are in the UK. I’m surprised.

“It can’t be much more than £5million because Hill Dickinson simply would not be able to pay it.

“So, that was the price and yet they couldn’t get a bigger brand to do it. It’s not criticism. It’s just interesting.

“Hill Dickinson is not one of the main English law firms. It’s maybe a top-50 firm. Certainly not top 10.

“It won’t be top 20, so it’s somewhere between 20 and 50, and that’s the highest bidder on a naming rights deal. It’s very surprising.”
