Ange Postecoglou could be on his way out of Tottenham after a disappointing league campaign, but is expected to make a swift return to the Premier League soon after his departure.

Postecoglou led Tottenham to their first major trophy in 17 years in a 1-0 victory against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés last Wednesday (25 May).

Despite this, Spurs suffered a 4-1 defeat to Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what would become their 22nd Premier League defeat this season.

As a result, Postecoglou is expected to be out the door quicker than you can say “mate”, but a return to the Premier League is on the cards for the Australian.

Postecoglou will have no issue finding another Premier League job

The 59-year-old said he would deliver Tottenham a trophy in his second season, and he delivered much to the shock of spectators.

However, he is not out of the woods yet, with Levy’s silence understood as one of the biggest indicators that Postecoglou will be sacked before the new season.

Tottenham have had a poor Premier League campaign

Despite this, Postecoglou remains the manager who did the impossible at Spurs, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes he will have little issue finding another club in the Premier League.

“If I were him, I would just wait for the first Premier League job to come up next season,” Wenham said.

“You know, if you want to stay in England. But if you’re the manager that gets Tottenham over the line when Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino couldn’t do it, your stock is held incredibly high.

“It’s a major European trophy that we’ve won, the second biggest one you can win. That makes us the fourth most successful English club ever in Europe.

“To have three of those trophies is massive. And the beauty of it is that it reminds people of the other trophies you’ve won as well. So I’m sure Postecoglou will have no problems getting another job now.”

Levy will need to decide Postecoglou’s future imminently

While the Europa League victory may have thrown a spanner in the works, Levy had weeks to prepare for both outcomes of the final.

Now he has the club and Postecoglou in a kind of limbo, unable to properly plan for the season ahead until a decision is made.

With Champions League football confirmed, Levy will need to decide quickly if Tottenham are to build on their European success.
