£9m Nottingham Forest player often ignored by Nuno makes big decision on his future - journalist

Ramon Sosa signed for Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2024, with the Reds forking out £9 million to sign him from Argentine outfit Talleres.

Sosa – a winger who can operate on both flanks – had outgrown football in Argentina, and much like a number of players before him, he was keen to sample the European experience.

The 25-year-old has struggled at Forest, however, with Nuno Espirito Santo choosing to use him sparingly during the 2024/25 campaign.

Sosa has been linked with the Forest exit, and that doesn’t come as a surprise considering he’s started just a single game in the Premier League for the football club during the season.

Now, with the dust still settling on a brilliant season for Forest, it would appear that Sosa has made a call on his future.

Ramon Sosa makes decision on Nottingham Forest future

According to South American journalist German Garcia Grova, Sosa is going to reject the advances of Palmeiras during the summer transfer window. At least in the short term anyway…

Sosa is keen to ensure that he gives European football a proper crack and it would seem, for now, he’s going to try and avoid a return to South America.

The versatile forward made 23 appearances for Forest in total, scoring three goals and claiming one assist despite game time coming at a premium for him.

For whatever reason, he just didn’t seem trusted by Espirito Santo when Forest were chasing games, failing to make it on the pitch in the team’s final three games of the campaign.

Forest need better than Sosa next season

For Sosa, the European dream quickly became a nightmare and given his age, he will want to be playing regular football.

With European football on the fixture list for Forest next season, it would appear as though the Reds are going to need a bigger squad.

However, better quality is also required, and if Espirito Santo clearly doesn’t really trust Sosa, it’s the best for all parties if he departs the City Ground this summer.

Sosa has felt like a good character behind the scenes, and the hope will be that Forest can at least get what they paid for him back in order to keep the PSR spreadsheet looking healthy.
