Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal has admitted he’s champing at the bit to make his comeback as he continues to work his way back after ACL surgery.
The youngster started the season with Hansi Flick’s team but was then ruled out with a [serious knee injury in August of last year](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2024/8/27/24230037/heartbreak-for-barcelona-marc-bernal-knee-injury-against-rayo-vallecano).
[Bernal has previously said he hopes to be ready in August](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/20/24433180/marc-bernal-sets-date-for-long-awaited-barcelona-return-after-knee-surgery) and has now offered another update on his comeback.
> “There was already a misunderstanding, and I said I’d be ready more or less for the start of the season, not preseason. I don’t even know yet, but I’m doing very well, and that’s the important thing,” he told Barca One.

> “Everything’s going well. You can’t even imagine how eager I am to return. It’ll be more euphoria than nerves when I return.”
Bernal also spoke about his favoured positions on the pitch and the players he’s always looked up to at Barcelona.
> “Because of my physique, I’ve been able to adapt to other positions. When I was little, I played as a playmaker, and they gradually moved me back.

> “In the first game they put me in the center of center, I felt very comfortable, and it surprised even me. It changed my life.

> “When I was little, my idol was Iniesta, and the player I look up to most now is Pedri. The one who has surprised me the most is Dani Olmo. When he arrived, the controls he has.”
Bernal is one of a talented bunch of teenagers at the club and revealed what makes this particular crop so impressive.
> “The 2007 generation is brutal, it’s crazy. You could already see everything Lamine had from a young age,” he added.

> “What I’d highlight about us is how we play at our age. In the end, age doesn’t matter, and they’re proving it, and they’re at a level that no one can stop.”
The teenager’s return will be a big boost for Flick and Barca. Let’s hope it’s not too long until we get to see him back in action once again.
