Report: Arsenal make contact to sign 'exceptional' 6 ft 6 forward, he's 'the next Robin van…

Arsenal are showing ‘serious’ interest in a summer move for Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade, according to CaughtOffside.

The Gunners have reportedly made direct contact with the Bundesliga club to enquire about Woltemade’s availability this summer amid his breakout season in Germany.

Stuttgart are believed to be open to the 'exceptional' 6ft 6in striker’s departure if offers in the region of €40–50m (£34–42m) are presented, although they would prefer to keep the player for another season.

Woltemade, who joined Stuttgart from Werder Bremen last summer, is under contract until June 2028.

According to CaughtOffside, a number of Premier League and European clubs are monitoring Woltemade’s situation this summer, including Arsenal, West Ham, Napoli and Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old, who was once likened to Robin van Persie, has no shortage of suitors across the continent following a breakout campaign at Stuttgart, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this season.

Woltemade’s impressive performances in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal have also caught the eye of Julian Nagelsmann, who handed the in-form striker his first call-up to the Germany national team this month.

Arsenal are expected to bring in a new number nine this summer after another disappointing domestic season, having finished second in the Premier League for a third year running.

The Gunners are considering Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig starlet Benjamin Sesko as potential options, while Eintracht Frankfurt sensation Hugo Ekitike has also been linked.

Arteta’s side are expected to announce Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first summer signing, having reached an agreement in principle over a £51m deal for the Euro 2024 winner.
