Alisson Becker points to'new challenge'after'long time celebrating'Liverpool title win

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is looking forward to taking on a "new challenge" at Anfield, having won the Premier League title for the second time — this time when fans were able to celebrate.

Linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia but under contract until 2027 and content on Merseyside, Alisson was once again a key part of the Liverpool success story, this time under Dutch head coach Arne Slot. And while he wants to celebrate the achievement for the time being, it won't be long until the focus switches to what comes next.

"We’ve done it," Alisson, who turns 33 in October, told LFCTV while on the parade bus. "It’s unbelievable. It’s hard to believe that we are here, that we are champions.

"It’s so hard, we worked so hard, for so many years arriving close, sometimes not that close. It’s so difficult to win this title. But we were able to win it this season and with the opportunity to celebrate is fantastic, amazing.

"It’s a long time celebrating to be honest, I don’t have the energy anymore to do that — four weeks of celebrating! But I’m really happy, I just want to enjoy as much as we can these moments.

"We know how in football things change quickly. Tomorrow when the celebration finishes we go for a new challenge. We go for a new challenge, but we celebrate now!"

For players like Alisson, this is not the first time that they have won a major honor, having had a similar parade for the Champions League triumph of 2019. One key pillar of the team will change this summer, though, when Trent Alexander-Arnold signs for Real Madrid.

"I think throughout the years we’ve developed a really good relationship between the players, obviously with Virgil, with Robbo, with Trent," Alisson continued. "It’s been seven years here in Liverpool.

"We create really special connections and it feels even more special to win titles with this kind of connection. Obviously with the other lads that haven’t played long enough, you still create connections and this makes everything special.

"So the connection between the players, but the connection between the people, with the city, with the supporters, with the club, it makes everything much, much, much more special."

Next season, Alisson will have a different deputy with Caoimhin Kelleher expected to move on and Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving from Valencia. The Georgian is one of the most highly-rated up-and-coming shot-stoppers around.

"They are looking at me as the Liverpool goalkeeper for the next 10 years," Mamardashvili toldGeo Team last week. "My next step will be the same as it was in Valencia. I will go and prove myself and do what I can.

"The main thing is patience, training and hard work, and everything else will come by itself. I think it will be good, training with [Alisson] will help me grow too and I will gain a lot of experience with him."

Liverpool.com says: Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world. He has missed a few games again this season, but when he is fit, there is no one better. Mamardashvili wants to take his spot, but it will take something incredible to overtake the Brazilian in the pecking order any time soon.
