Liverpool should target three budget Isak alternatives after completing Wirtz and Frimpong deals - Opinion

Liverpool have made a frantic start to the transfer window with two deals close to being completed.

Jeremie Frimpong is set to sign for Liverpool, with the Reds expected to pay the defender’s £35m release clause at Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Liverpool hope to sign Florian Wirtz by Monday, with a deal likely to be completed at around £100 million. Liverpool are also targeting Milos Kerkez, for whom Bournemouth are demanding £42m to sell.

But with a substantial amount of money now spent, Liverpool may be forced to sell players to fund a striker. Therefore, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes should start looking at good value options.

Liverpool should firm up interest in Jonathan David

One of the best market opportunities this summer is set to be Jonathan David who will be available on a free transfer.

David has announced he is leaving Lille, having enjoyed five successful seasons in Ligue 1 and this season alone he has been excellent.

The striker has netted 25 goals in 49 appearances whilst also notching 12 assists to help Lille finish fifth in the league and reach the Champions League Round of 16.

TBR Football understands that Liverpool have held talks with David and, as a free agent, the Reds could capitalise on this opportunity.

Liverpool should also be looking at Dusan Vlahovic and Liam Delap

Once a hugely popular striker around Europe, Dusan Vlahovic is now free to leave Juventus after failing to agree on a new contract with the Italian giants.

Juventus now value Vlahovic at £25m and considering they paid around £67m for him back in 2022, that could offer great value.

The Bianconeri had a tricky campaign, although Vlahovic still managed to score 15 times this season as he proved his goalscoring pedigree.

In the case of the third option, Liverpool would need to act decisively as Man United currently lead the race for Liam Delap.

For £30m, the 22-year-old could prove to be one of the best deals of the summer transfer market having just enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in the Premier League.

Delap netted 12 top-flight goals this term for a struggling Ipswich Town, and it would be fascinating to see how he could perform for a team like Liverpool.
