"The situation..." - Fabrizio Romano shares what he's now hearing on Kobbie Mainoo leaving Man…

Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo has been linked with a departure in recent months, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his situation in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, confirming that it's all gone quiet in terms of an exit.

United have struggled with complying with profit and sustainability regulations in recent months, meaning offloading academy products could be hugely beneficial. Selling a player who has cost nothing will count for pure profit on the books, and the likes of Mainoo could be at risk.

Mainoo has been a standout player for United since coming through the academy, but he's struggled to cement a regular place in the starting XI under Ruben Amorim over the last few weeks. The England international was linked with a departure in the last couple of transfer windows, with Chelsea one of the sides showing an interest.

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Chelsea have shown an interest in signing Mainoo ahead of the summer transfer window. The United midfielder would want a pay increase to around £180,000-a-week to leave Old Trafford, while the Red Devils have been looking to tie him down to a new contract.

Reports have even suggested that Mainoo could reject a new deal at Old Trafford in order to seek a move abroad. Negotiations over a new contract have failed to reach a positive conclusion, although the English midfielder does still have three year remaining.
