Jacob Ramsey Aston Villa

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey and both these clubs are confident that Villa will be forced to offload the 24-year-old, according to talkSPORT.
Jacob Ramsey is a product of Villa’s academy and since making his debut in 2018, he has played 166 games for the club across all competitions. He has been a consistent performer over the years but his previous season was affected by injuries. The 24-year-old is primarily a left-winger but can also double up as a left-sided central midfielder.
Last season he missed 17 games due to a toe injury but since then, he’s revived his career. During the 24/25 campaign, he played in 29 Premier League matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists. His current market value is €32 million and his contract with his boyhood club expires in 2027.
Can Aston Villa afford to hold on to Jacob Ramsey?
Aston Villa have missed out on Champions League qualification after their final day fiasco and now, the club will need to sell some players in order to balance their books.
Jacob Ramsey is one such player who could be up for sale because the money from his sale will be registered as pure profit.
He will enter the final year of his contract next season so this is the perfect time to cash in on him. According to the rumours, Aston Villa are open to selling him this summer but they are demanding around €60 million to let him leave.
Villa are a well-managed club which means they do not need to make any panic sales but if Arsenal or Tottenham are willing to pay even €55 million, Unai Emery should allow him to leave.
Should Arsenal or Spurs spend money on the winger?
Villa are asking for almost double Ramsey’s market value and for someone who has just two years remaining on his contract, we feel this price is not justified.
Arsenal have much better options in the market as they are being linked with top-rated left-wingers like Rodrygo, Nico Williams and Kaoru Mitoma. Each one of them is a better player than Jacob Ramsey and at this point, the Gunners won’t be concerned about the transfer fee.
Spurs, on the other hand, not only need to bring in reinforcements but at the same time, they will be mindful of their spending. Ange needs to strengthen several problematic areas of his squad so he cannot afford to spend mindlessly. A move for someone like Jacob Ramsey will make a lot of sense because his playing style suits Tottenham Hotspur.
If the Lilywhites can agree on a deal for around €50 million then Jacob Ramsey will be a bargain signing for them. As Spurs will be playing in the Champions League next season, they won’t have any problems agreeing to personal terms either.
