Manchester United player requires ‘significant effort’ to join Barcelona – Salary drop can help move

Earlier this month, Mundo Deportivo reported Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has enlisted super-agent Pini Zahavi to help him secure a move to Barcelona in the summer window.

On Thursday, Barca sporting director Deco said he likes the forward and Liverpool’s Luis Díaz.

Wednesday’s edition of Sport covers the La Liga side’s interest in the Manchester United player.

Rashford had a fallout with Ruben Amorim shortly after the manager arrived, and the Red Devils sent him on loan to Aston Villa in the winter market. The Villans aren’t willing to exercise the purchase option, and he has to return to Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old still has no future at Manchester United, who have already informed his entourage. The Premier League club are prioritising his sale and have set a €48m asking price.

Barca can afford it, but this combined with the Englishman’s high salary makes it difficult for them.

Sport state Rashford is well aware that he needs to ‘make a significant effort’ to leave the Red Devils in the upcoming window. This is only to join Barcelona and has communicated the same to Hansi Flick’s side.

Barca are clear they will only consider signing the attacker if the fee is lowered or on an advantageous loan operation. They know Manchester United’s stance on Rashford and want them to compromise.

As well as Rashford, the Spanish champions have Díaz and AC Milan’s Rafael Leão on their list.
