**Callum Wilson's time at Newcastle United is likely to come to an end in the coming weeks, with no movement being made on a new deal as yet.**
It has been reported that there is a pay-as-you-play offer on the table for Wilson should he wish to stay at the club, but with Everton and Leeds United both keen to offer the 33-year-old a more traditional contract, we expect we've probably seen the last of Wilson in black and white.
Regardless of whether he stays or goes, Newcastle need to add numbers to their attacking options, especially with it being mooted that Eddie Howe could potentially turn to a new system next season.
Newcastle have been linked with several strikers in recent weeks, and L'Equipe have thrown another name into the pile this week.
Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen have taken 'initial steps' to sign Arnaud Kalimeundo
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The French outlet claims that Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen have made an initial approach to Stade Rennais about the availability of their star striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.
Leeds United are also keen on Kalimuendo after failing to secure his services two seasons ago, and after the Frenchman hit 18 goals this season, building on the 10 he scored in the previous campaign. He's bracing himself for plenty of offers.
His current deal with Rennes expires in 2027, so there's no rush on their part to move him on, and that safety net will allow the Ligue 1 side scope to push up the price, whatever that may be.
The question is, is Arnaud Kalimeundo Premier League ready?
-----------------------------------------------------------
The report claims Newcastle are ready to pay a 'substantial sum' to liberate Kalimeundo from Rennes, but foreign press often tend to exaggerate Newcastle's spending power.
Kalimeundo clearly knows where the goal is, it's just a question of whether the 23-year-old can make the step from Ligue 1 to the Premier League and hit the ground running.
We've no doubt that in time, with Eddie Howe's help, he'll be a solid striker in the Premier League, but we need an instant impact.
