Two weeks ago, Brighton emerged as candidates to sign Hellas Verona’s Diego Coppola.
There were claims that the Seagulls had made contact for the centre-back in January and that a fee of €10m could be enough to land him in the summer.
More has now emerged about Coppola’s future and TuttoAtalanta have reported on it.
The outlet claim that Brighton could be in the middle of a ‘fascinating market battle’, as Atalanta and AC Milan are also in the race to sign the 21-year-old.
The belief is that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side want to get ahead of the competition and land an undervalued talent, and Coppola could prove to be a key player for them next season.
There is ‘strong interest’ from both Brighton and Milan, and general interest isn’t a surprise considering the Italian’s quick rise in the past 12 months.
He’s also been called up to the Italy national team by Luciano Spalletti and Coppola has been rewarded for his consistent performances, making 34 Serie A appearances in the 2024/25 season.
Brighton interest is justified and this is a situation to watch.
