“Brentford have bought him” – Director confirms Brentford move, says player is ‘very happy’

Defender Michael Kayode has shown clear signs of his abilities during his time at Brentford, after joining following a difficult period.

His best performance came against Manchester United some weeks ago and he also did well in the next three Premier League games, impressing at right-back.

Reports in Italy have stated Brentford are about to exercise their option to buy the 20-year-old permanently from Fiorentina, and confirmation has now arrived from the Italian club’s sporting director Daniele Prade.

Speaking in a post season press conference about La Viola’s 2024/25 campaign, Prade was asked about the Florence club’s decisions in the transfer market.

When speaking of Pietro Comuzzo, he also went on to speak about Kayode.

He said, as relayed by TuttoNapoli: “It wasn’t a small sum, €30m plus bonuses for Comuzzo. You have to listen to the president about this, he’s the one who opposed it. But now the extension on Pietro proves it, we see him inside Fiorentina.

“I take this opportunity to wish Kayode the best of luck, Brentford have bought him. He was very happy.”

Kayode needed the opportunity to shine at Brentford and has taken it with both hands, sealing himself a permanent move to the Premier League in the process.

The Italian was held back by injuries earlier on in his spell at the Bees but has not let those problems define the loan and has pushed through.
