A baby miraculously escaped with no severe physical harm after being swept 15ft away in his pram during a terrifying incident at the Liverpool title-winning parade.

The tot's father, Daniel Eveson, recounted the harrowing moment when he "thought he had lost everything" as a Ford Galaxy crashed into spectators including his family on Monday. His child Teddy was flung down the street, and Daniel's partner was caught under the vehicle's wheel.

Following the accident, it has been confirmed that the infant did not suffer major physical injuries. A quick-thinking member of staff from a nearby eatery dashed to check on Teddy, subsequently caring for him while Daniel helped his injured partner, who was hospitalised overnight following the incident.

Describing what should have been a celebratory event for Liverpool's second Premier League victory, Eveson described it as the "worst day of his life". He said: "To me looking and finding his pram. To not knowing if he was alive. To seeing him alive. It was a lot to take on... I thought I had lost everything, I really did."

The youngster remained in his pram as he was thrown approximately 15ft, which likely cushioned him from further injury. Reports suggest he did not require hospital treatment, reports the Mirror.

However, speaking to the BBC, Daniel, from Telford, Shropshire, continued: "I don't honestly believe I will be able to go to a parade or celebration like that ever again. Because there will always be that fear in the back of my mind that anything can happen and we might not be in control."

Around 50 people - including children - were hurt in total, the emergency services confirmed. As of Tuesday afternoon, 11 of these remained in hospital with various injuries.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and drug driving. The suspect, from West Derby, Liverpool, remains in police custody where he has been interviewed.

Merseyside Constabulary understand the man, a white British citizen, was the driver of the vehicle, which is thought to have been able to follow an ambulance attending to someone suffering a heart attack after a road block was temporarily lifted.

But Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims defended the policing operation during the parade, telling reporters that the force planned for "all contingencies" - including road closures and an armed police presence.

Another Liverpool supporter told how he feels lucky to be alive after a putting up his hands to stop the driver at the Reds' title-winning parade. Jack Trotter spent the night in hospital after he was struck by the car.

The vehicle collided with a crowd and more than 50 people - including Jack - needed treatment in different hospitals across Liverpool. Jack said: "When it sort of got to my level, the car had slowed down and I put my hands up, sort of to protect myself but also to try to say to him 'stop.'"
