And we’re switching to the other side of the ball! What do an executive, area scout, pro personnel assistant and personnel man-turned-media member think of the 2025 Bears defense? I like the question format more than the evaluative format so I’m sticking with that process.
**Do the Bears have enough pass rush?** _“Short answer is no. Not on the outside. But DA seemed to really want the Indy kid (Dayo Odeyingbo) and they have a logjam now of good players in the middle. We didn’t identify him as a potential game changer on the edge but if DA turns him into an eight or nine sack guy, I don’t think their edge rush will be a liability.”_
**What did you see when scouting this DL in 2024?** _“Billings is such a good player and when he wasn’t on the field you could run right through them.”_
**What does Grady Jarrett have left?** _“Surprising signing for me. Thought Jarrett would be an expensive one-year deal for a contender. Buffalo or Baltimore or somewhere like that. I think he has enough to be a rotational player. But sorta the way Ben brought in Thuney and Jonah to change the culture on offense, I wonder if DA just wanted a high character guy for that reason. Nobody is higher character than Grady.”_

**Who do you love on this defensive line?** _“Dexter. Our draft room let out some audible ‘fucks’ when the Bears grabbed him. And he’s just scratching the surface. What is he, 23?”_
**Who don’t you love on this defensive line?** _“I don’t love Sweat. Especially after the 2024 tape. There’s just been this assumption around the league that he was hurt last season but what’s the injury? Normally, we can look at the tape and see what’s nagging a guy. Nothing is obvious on his tape.”_
